Credit Repair
Professional Credit Repair Services
Credit repair is the process of reviewing your credit reports, identifying information that may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable, and asking the credit bureaus and furnishers to investigate it. Credit Man LLC is an Indianapolis-based credit repair and consulting company that helps clients work through that process.
Professional credit repair helps consumers exercise rights they already have under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not remove accurate negative information, and no company can legally guarantee a specific score increase or deletion.
What professional credit repair is
Credit repair is documentation and follow-through. Your reports from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion are pulled apart line by line, compared with your records, and any item that appears inaccurate or unsupported is disputed in writing with the bureau that reported it.
Credit Man LLC provides credit consulting: we review reports with you, help you understand what each item means, prepare and send disputes, track responses, and adjust the strategy as the bureaus reply.
How our credit repair process works
Every engagement follows the same structure, with timelines that depend on how the bureaus respond.
- Free consultation: review your goals, your reports, and whether credit repair is the right step.
- Report audit: identify potentially inaccurate accounts, balances, payment histories, inquiries, and personal information.
- Dispute preparation: build bureau-specific disputes with supporting documentation.
- Bureau investigation: the bureau generally has 30 days to investigate and respond.
- Follow-up: review results, escalate unresolved items where appropriate, and re-strategize.
- Credit improvement planning: address utilization, account mix, and habits that affect your profile.
Who may benefit from credit repair
Credit repair tends to help people who have specific errors or unverifiable items on their reports, or who have been through identity theft, a divorce, a medical event, or a financial hardship that left inaccurate marks behind.
If your reports are accurate and your goal is simply to build credit over time, credit building and budgeting guidance may be a better fit than disputes. We will tell you that on the consultation rather than sell you a service you do not need.
Common credit report problems we review
These are the issues that come up most often when we audit reports.
- Accounts that are not yours or were opened fraudulently
- Duplicate collection accounts for the same debt
- Incorrect balances, credit limits, or dates opened
- Late payments reported incorrectly or after a hardship agreement
- Charge-offs reported with inaccurate balances
- Collection accounts reported after a valid deletion
- Hard inquiries you did not authorize
- Mixed credit files, where another person's information appears on your report
What credit repair can and cannot do
We can require bureaus and furnishers to investigate disputed information, and we can help you document your case properly. We cannot force a bureau to delete accurate information, and we cannot promise a specific score.
Accurate negative information generally stays on your report for seven years, with some exceptions such as certain bankruptcies that stay longer. Knowing that up front keeps expectations realistic.
Consumer rights and consumer protections
The Fair Credit Reporting Act gives you the right to dispute incomplete or inaccurate information, to receive the results of an investigation, and to add a statement of dispute to your file. The Credit Repair Organizations Act sets rules for credit repair companies, including written contracts, a three-day cancellation right, and prohibitions on charging for services before they are performed.
Credit Man LLC provides a written agreement, required disclosures, and cancellation information before any paid work begins.

Frequently asked questions
How long does credit repair take?
Bureaus generally have about 30 days to respond to a dispute, so a single round takes roughly a month. Many files need several rounds and follow-up, and results vary based on the number of items and how the bureaus respond.
Can inaccurate collections be removed?
If a collection is inaccurate, unverifiable, or not yours, it can be disputed and may be removed. Accurate collections can generally be reported for up to seven years.
Can I dispute credit errors myself?
Yes. You have the right to dispute directly with the bureaus at no cost. A professional service handles the documentation, timing, and follow-up for you, which is the main practical difference.
What happens if a bureau verifies the disputed information?
You can request additional documentation, dispute again with new evidence, or file a complaint with the CFPB. In some cases the item is accurate and stays on the report.
